About the Role
An established, self-perform heavy civil contractor is hiring a Senior Project Engineer to support roadway, highway, and bridge construction in the Richmond market. You sit at the center of the project. Quantities, submittals, RFIs, and field coordination all run through you, on work that is already won and moving.
What You'll Do
- Own submittals, RFIs, and non conformance resolution on active civil projects
- Estimate quantities and maintain bills of materials and budgets to specification
- Track cost and production against budget and flag variance early
- Schedule and monitor construction activities across earthwork, drainage, structures, and paving
- Coordinate MOT phasing with the field team
- Support subcontractor contracts and change order documentation
- Schedule and conduct QC and QA inspections
- Work directly with superintendents, designers, and DOT inspectors
What You'll Need
- 5+ years of heavy civil project engineering experience
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- Working knowledge of DOT standards, specifications, and quality requirements
- Prior experience on DOT roadway or bridge projects including formwork, reinforcing steel, and inspections
- Comfortable in scheduling and PM tools such as Primavera P6, HCSS, or Procore
- Richmond based or open to relocating to the Richmond area
Compensation & Benefits
- $100,000 to $130,000 base salary, depending on experience
