About the Role
An established, self-perform heavy civil contractor in Virginia is hiring a Project Manager to lead roadway, highway, and bridge construction. This is a real-authority seat — you own the budget, schedule, and margin on challenging, already-won work. You'll run projects end to end and partner with operations, estimating, and field leadership to deliver.
What You'll Do
- Lead heavy civil projects — roadway, highway, bridge, and sitework — from buyout through closeout
- Own project budget, schedule, cost forecasting, change orders, and monthly reporting
- Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and self-perform crews to hit production and margin targets
- Drive procurement and submittals on long-lead materials and equipment
- Coordinate with DOT / owner representatives, designers, and inspectors
- Partner with superintendents and field leadership on means, methods, and sequencing
- Manage RFIs, submittals, pay applications, and project documentation
- Enforce safety and quality standards across all field operations
What You'll Need
- 10+ years of heavy civil project management experience
- Proven track record running roadway, highway, and/or bridge work
- Strong command of budget, schedule, and margin on self-perform civil work
- Experience with DOT-funded projects preferred
- Proficiency in scheduling and PM tools (Primavera P6, HCSS, Procore, or equivalent)
- Virginia-based or VA-relocatable
Compensation & Benefits
- $140,000 – $180,000 base depending on experience
