📊 Chief Estimator — Heavy Civil / Highway

An established heavy civil and highway general contractor — offices in New Jersey, the Virginia / DMV market, and Florida (Tampa and Fort Myers) — is hiring a Chief Estimator to run its estimating function. This is the top estimating seat: you own the numbers on the pursuits that matter most and lead the team that builds them. The seat is flexible on office location — Zoom-first, with roughly monthly travel to New Jersey.

What You'll Own

• Lead the estimating team and set strategy on major DOT roadway, bridge, and underground utility pursuits
• Own final numbers — takeoffs, summaries, and complete construction budgets
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site walks to capture the details that win bids
• Solicit, level, and negotiate vendor and subcontractor pricing
• Coordinate every estimate with senior management and defend the numbers
• Build, mentor, and grow the estimating team across offices

What You Bring

• 10+ years in heavy civil / highway estimating (or field / project engineering into estimating)
• BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Engineering Technology
• HCSS HeavyBid, AgTek, Bluebeam, and Procore proficiency
• Multi-DOT bid experience — NJDOT, NYDOT, or FLDOT strongly preferred
• Proven leadership across bid and proposal development end-to-end
• Willing to sit in NJ, VA, or FL and travel to New Jersey periodically

Compensation

• $200,000 – $230,000 base salary, depending on experience
• Bonus program
